Patricia and Fabiola Nintcheu threw shot put and discus, coming in fifth and sixth for shot put, respectively. The girls placed fifth overall out of 36 teams.

When asked about the relay, Emi McCollum said, “We came in to finals ranked first, so coming second to the team that also beat us at districts was disappointing, but setting a new school record and qualifying for states is very exciting and we hope to place well.”

The Viper Boys came in eighth out of 36 teams, even though there were only four boys competing. Travis Bryant brought in 18 of the team’s 27 points, coming in second place in both long and triple jump. Jake Nowak came second in the 400 and fifth in high jump. Wilson Chestney came in sixth place in the 300 hurdles, and Tucker Mathis competed in pole vault.

In regards to his event, Tucker said, “I knew it was going to be a tough day, because starting height was my personal best. I was disappointed to leave without clearing it, but I know that I have two more years to come back and place better.”

As the top two competitors in each event move on to states, The girls’ 4×4 will move on the states along with Adeline Carter in the 400. Travis Bryant will be long and triple jumping, and Jake Nowak will be competing for a state title in the 400.
