Juniors Create Projects with an Interesting Twist

It’s an early Monday morning and students can be seen rushing to class with an unusual project in their hands. At first glance it appears to be a regular diorama. However, it contains an interesting twist; all projects include Peeps.

“Since it is around Easter and peeps are prevalent on shelves we thought that this would be something that connects with our more artistic students,” APUSH teacher, Coach McCarter said. “We thought it would be something fun for them to do.”

AP US history students turn in their peeps projects Monday and Tuesday. This counts as a test grade for the sixth grading cycle.

“I did my project over the Boston massacre,” junior Jessica Brown said. “I thought it was a lot of fun. I mainly enjoyed eating the peeps.”

The students were asked to sign up for a historical topic in class and then create a visual representation of it.

“For the most part, the projects have been outstanding,” McCarter said. “I think students have really enjoyed doing it.”

All projects had to fit in a shoe box and include labels. The projects will be judged by faculty members in the upcoming weeks.

“I did my project on Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech,” junior Sydney Sanders said. “I was cool because you got to decorate stuff instead of just researching, but I wish we had done it after the AP test.”
