February 5, Target releases its new collaboration with Jason Wu.

The collection features “gamine chic” inspired clothes with other inspiration from Jean Seberg and French New Wave films. The collection’s muse is Milu, a mischievous black cat, and the collaboration recreates an American girl in Paris. Examples of pieces in this collection are; a- line dresses, high- waisted skirts, Peter Pan collared blouses and structured handbags. Jason Wu’s pieces usually range   from $350 to over $2000, but the Jason Wu for Target line will be priced $19.99 to $49.99.

After studying at the Parsons School of Design, Wu’s career was launched when Michelle Obama wore one of his designs to the inaugural ball.  Soon afterward he won Vogue’s International Rising Star Award and the WWD Future of Fashion Award.

The amount of excitement surrounding the collaboration comes as no surprise. However many are skeptical that they will even be able get a hold of the pieces. This comes in light of the “Missoni fail;” last fall. When the Missoni for Target collaboration came out, the website crashed due to the number of people trying to buy clothing and pieces in the store sold out in as little as 30 minutes. Target has claimed to be fixing their website.

But in the meantime, lace up your tennis shoes and run like pantyhose when this collection hits stores on February 5.
