Band advanced to Bands of America Super Regionals and will compete this weekend in San Antonio. The competition will be held at the Alamo Dome.

“I’m really excited about advancing in Bands of America,” senior Cameron Clarke said. “All the hard work throughout the season is paying off.”

Band began practicing Aug. 1 for around 8-10 hours a day and during the school year practices 2 hours after school Tuesday through Friday. They also perform at Friday night football games and weekend competitions.

“The practices we have are challenging but also very fun,” Clarke said. “It’s something that you will never really experience until you have done it.”

All LISD schools will attend the competition, including 63 other bands.

“I can’t wait to to see the other bands at the competition as well,” Clarke said. “It’s always interesting to see what the other bands’ shows are.”

This is the band’s first time competing in the 6A division and they placed 1st in the Bands of America Area competition Oct 29.

“I feel confident in the work we’ve done and the only thing we control is how hard we work,” junior and Vision member Brooklyn Stone said. “The rest is up to the judges but I feel like if we put our best foot forward things will work in our favor.”

Band members say they enjoy being a part of this large organization.

“It’s somewhere where you can see all the different school groups coinciding with each other,” Clarke said. “Then for marching band, everyone comes together through hard work and ups and downs to create something magical, something, as my band director says, to inspire.”

After Bands of America this weekend, band will compete at the UIL state competition on Nov. 8.

“I’m very excited to go to state,” senior Scott Macdonald said. “On top of the fact that it is my senior year, everyone in the band has worked incredibly hard to get here. I can’t wait to get there and put on an amazing show.”
