Tonight the VHS theatre department will premiere Thoroughly Modern Millie at 7 p.m.

Thoroughly Modern Millie is a musical based on the film of the same name and is about the story of Millie Dillmount, a women who arrives in New York looking for love in the roaring 20’s

“The challenge lies in combining all the elements into one cohesive vision,” Director Aaron Stahlecker said. “There’s a lot more set pieces and a lot more set locations,”

Aaron Stahlecker has been the play director for many musicals before as well as the technical director and is very effective at talking with his crew.

“I think Mr. Stahlecker is a great director and he’s super fun work with and super easy to work with,” senior Victoria Brown said. “He makes rehearsals fun and they go by fast.”

Actors have been preparing for over a month for the play and have been having a lot of fun with it also.

“It’s just a really fun thing to do,” senior Nick Birk said. “It’s always fun to put on a show for other people and give them the love that you for what you do.”

The production experience with Modern Millie has been stressful but fun, actors have been working together to make sure it will be the best show yet.

“For me it’s been one of the best shows we’ve ever put on here,” Brown said. “The cast and crew are just so close and it’s just such a fun show to work on.”

Tickets are $15 and showtimes are 7 p.m. on Jan. 22-24 with a 2 p.m. showing on Jan. 24.
