Sophomore of the Year Award Announced

shivaniThe Kiwanis’ Sophomore of the Year has been announced, and Shivani Pandya has been selected for her service in the school and community. She also won the LISD award for Sophomore of the Year, out of the other district nominees. She will be awarded $100 at a breakfast ceremony on Jan. 29.
“The award is based upon the student’s leadership, community service, and desire to learn and share knowledge,” Key Club sponsor, Kirsten Mulligan said.
Shivani Pandya is involved in many different community service projects and has devoted much her time to bettering the community. She has completed various arts and crafts projects with senior citizens at Longhorn Village, Participated in the Summer Reading Program for children of all ages and assisted in book distribution, collection and management at the Cedar Park Library this summer. She is also involved in many school clubs, such as Student Council, Key Club, and participated in Relay for Life 2013.
Applications were due Nov. 8 and turned over to the Kiwanis. A committee of the Kiwanis reviewed applications, and notified Mr. Little on Dec. 9. As the LISD winner, her application will be considered for a $600.00 scholarship.
Mulligan said the school had more sophomores apply than ever before.
