Vandegrift Family Crowns First Homecoming King And Queen

Last Friday night marked another first for the senior class as the inaugural Homecoming King and Queen were crowned by Mr. John Vandegrift and Mrs. Mary Jane Vandegrift.

The Vipers took on the Rouse Raiders, and at halftime the freshman, sophomore and junior homecoming court walked the field in anticipation of who would be crowned king and queen.

Voted by the student body, James Gonzales and Moriah Gonzalez were the lucky couple. The student section roared as the two were crowned and introduced by Mr. Vandegrift and Mrs. Vandegrift.

“It was an incredible honor to be crowned by Mrs. Vandegrift, and a blessing to have the affirmation that my peers regard me with high respects,” Homecoming Queen Moriah Gonzalez said. “It wasn’t so much of an individual victory as it was a team accomplishment for what I represent- the band, my family, and Jesus Christ.”
