Swim team advances to state

This year’s swim team has worked hard to make it to state. The team will be sending fourteen of their best swimmers to compete and will be competing against all Leander schools and 5a Texas schools, ranging from Houston, San Antonio and Dallas schools. “I had to fully commit to swimming,” said Senior Elizabeth Nelson. “Missing even one or two practices can have big repercussions later on, so that means no vacations over thanksgiving or winter break, going to high school practice every morning and club practice every night, swimming 3.5-4 hours a day, etc. It’s tough but it pays off in the end!” One of the biggest competitors the swimmers will be facing is Cedar Park. They didn’t beat Cedar Park during the regionals, but knowing that, they plan on making a comeback during state.   “Our region had a lot of fast relays this year and I wasn’t sure we were going to make it,”Nelson  “It’s a huge honor to get to go, so I was definitely very happy to find out we had qualified.” The swim team has broken six new records this year. It will be a huge achievement for the seniors to compete in state and leave high school on a high note. It will be exciting to hear the final results! “ I was extremely excited to find out that I qualified for state,” said Senior  Jade Federlin. “When I started swimming in high school it was a goal of mine to make it. This is my fourth and final year being able to compete in the state meet.”
