Where Are You Going This Summer?

With the end of the school year in sight, students and teachers anticipate having downtime to do whatever they want.  Sumer-itis has hit some students hard as their brains check out of school.  Students, and even teachers, just can’t concentrate on school any more.  From slacking off on work, to glancing out the window every 20 seconds, everyone just cannot wait until summer.

“I can’t wait to go to SeaWorld and swim with Orca whales,” Megan Sekiya, sophomore, said.

Some students already have their whole summer dedicated to vacation after vacation, while others just can’t wait to take advantage of their free time and sleep.

“I can’t wait to go to Los Angeles, win [FCCLA] nationals in Orlando, and go to India to see my family,” Deepti Rao, sophomore, said.

But summer is about more than vacationing, many students enjoy packing their summers full of activities while others are content to just chill out, watch TV, hang with friends, or swim.

“I can’t wait to go to camp, ride horses, go to Alaska, ride horses more, and go to my cow farm,” Maggie Birrell, sophomore, said.

From summer camps, to vacations, to watching the Olympics, to just plain relaxing, students do it all in the summer.

“I’m going to a beach in Mexico and I can’t wait to swim and relax,” Romina Montellano, sophomore, said.

Even though most people spend their summer vacationing, you don’t have to leave Austin to have summer fun.  There are many things to see and do in Austin during the summer such as boating on the lake (if there is any water in it), hiking local trails, going to concerts, or just watching the sun set over the water.

“I can’t wait for summer to have free time to do whatever, catch up on things, and hang out with friends,” Mrs. Buhidma, Latin teacher, said.
