Girls soccer starts season at scrimmages

Girls+soccer+starts+season+at+scrimmages

On Friday Dec. 8, girls soccer began their season in scrimmages against Lake Travis High School. JV lost 1-0, while varsity lost 2-1. On Sat Dec. 9, the girls competed in the Blue Santa LISD tournament, where both teams tied Leander 0-0. The LISD Blue Santa tournament additionally serves as a toy drive for local youth in the community. The event took place at Glenn High School.

On Dec. 12, both teams will have their first games at Monroe Stadium, scrimmages against Cedar Park High School. Both girls and boys soccer begins scrimmages in December and plays throughout the spring.

Despite the losses on Friday night, junior JV goalkeeper Nandini Raju takes a positive outlook for the rest of the season.

We’re learning from our mistakes and how to work together on a team. Before those games, we had never played together and we want to come back stronger for our first home game.

— Nandini Raju
