With over 28 combined district, regional, and state titles under their belt, the boys and girls golf teams have two important tournaments in the near future.

The girls division will compete on Oct. 2-3 in Swing for the Cure at Brackenridge Golf Course, and the boy’s will compete in the Marshall Invitational at The Golf Club of Texas in San Antonio on Oct. 9.

“We’ve prepared a lot for them, and I think we’re more than ready,” senior Jacob Rockefeller said.

The Brackenridge Golf Course is the oldest public golf course in Texas. They will be facing off against Lake Travis and Westlake. Senior Sarah Rovenstine is optimistic about the team’s performance.

“It’s very competitive, but we’ve all been working hard,” Rovenstine said.”I think we stand a very good chance.”

The boy’s team will also face Lake Travis and Westlake, as well as Alamo Heights and Burning Champion.

“I feel we have a really good team going into this year,” Rockefeller said.

For the past two years, the boys have won two state competitions, while the girls placed third last year. Though some seniors have left, and many members are rookies, both Rovenstine and Rockefeller stated that both teams remain strong.

“There’s a lot of freshman, so it’s a really different environment,” Rovenstine said. “But we have some solid players who are gonna contribute to the team this year.”
