Viper Track In the Midst of Preparation for Imminent Season

Track season is just getting started, and the Vipers are off to a great start. Though some runners are in it just to get some physical activity, others are training hard to perform well at meets.

“This season was, at first, just a way for me to stay in shape for football. Now I’m actually excited about being in the meets and getting faster,” sophomore Reid Marburger said.

They are just starting to split up in to JV and varsity, and runners are working hard to secure their spots.

“I’m excited to run JV this year because if I was on varsity, the competition would be a lot steeper, but on JV I think I’ll have a lot of success,” Marburger said.

The team is shaping up well and beginning to divide off into their specialized groups, whether they’re hurdlers, jumpers, sprinters, or distance.

“I like running hurdles because I feel like I’m part of a special group,” sophomore Trevor Schleich said.

Some members of the team strictly do jumping events, and train specifically for their event

“I get pole vault lessons from a trainer outside of school, but sometimes I still go to the school practices. Pole vault is my favorite event because it takes a lot of skill and I do well in it,” sophomore varsity pole vaulter Tucker Mathis said.
