Football players give back

The Viper Football team participated in helping the Texas Ramp Project this past weekend.

“Texas Ramp Project is a non profit organization that builds wheelchair ramps for people in need,” coach Michael Heath said.

The program has nineteen locations all over the state of Texas and it offers freedom to homebound individuals.

“The team volunteered at the Logo Vista location a for 4 hours. We have participated in the event every year, and will continue to do it in the future,” Heath said, “ It not only is a great service opportunity, but it teaches the players to serve others and to go outside of their comfort zone.”

Texas Ramp Project is made up of all volunteer groups that have built hundreds of safe, strong ramps in recent years.

“One thing that I love about the VHS and our community is the selfless attitude that they have. Everyone was willing to help anywhere that help is needed and our players really showed that this weekend,” Heath said,  “Texas Ramp Project provided us with the materials and tools and our players built the ramps. It was a great experience and we will continue to work with Texas Ramp Project in the future.”20141025_102107
