Winter X Games 2014

Kelly Rosenblatt, Editor in Chief

The 2014 Winter XGames start today in Aspen Colorado and will run on ESPN until the 26th, the final day of the games.  This will be a year of surprises and anticipation. Last year Shaun White received a score of 100, the highest snowboarding superpipe score in XGames history, for executing a perfect run and topping it off with a 12-foot-9 frontside double cork 1260, a trick that has yet to be beaten. Last year was also a big year for the other events. The first ever front flip on a snowmobile was executed by Heath Frisby, winning him the gold medal in the snowmobile division. With successes like these, there’s extreme anticipation for what the XGames participants have in store this year. Many Olympians are competing in the XGames, including Scotty Lago, Taylor Gold, Loui Vito, and more, making the stakes high, especially with the winter Olympics right around the corner. Tonight will start off with the men’s snowboarding and slopestyle eliminations followed by the men’s snowmobile elimination. You can find the live competition schedule at http://xgames.espn.go.com/events/2014/aspen/schedule/ and judging from last year’s victories, you won’t want to miss a thing.
