Halloween Shootout

On October 26, the Vandegrift girls lacrosse team debued their skills at their first tournament of the year, the Halloween Shootout. Each of Vandegrift’s teams played a total of two games, the JV team winning two, and the Varsity team tieing one and losing the other.

“It was so fun to finally see everything we’ve been working on come together! I was so proud to see all the new girls play and see how much everyone has already improved!” team captain Riley Zoellner said.

Although Vandegrift just started their girls team last year, for many of the juniors and seniors on the team, who originally played for Cedar Park, this was their third or fourth time at the tournament.

“I’ve been going to the Halloween Shootout since I was a freshman.” Junior Taylor Searels said. “And it has always been my favorite tournament because of all the team bonding and great memories I’ve made here. ”

The team’s next tournament, Aggieland, is in January, and will be held in College Station. Shortly after, their spring season will begin.

“Now we have seen where we stand with other teams and can look at what we need to improve for the next tournament.” Varsity player Gabby Fatke said.

For any girls interested in joining the Vandegrift Lacrosse team please contact the ASL teacher and JV coach, Jennifer Greenstreet, for details.
