“Antman and the Wasp: Quantamania,” directed by Peyton Reed, was released in theaters on Feb. 17, 2023. Fans have awaited the movie since its announcement in May 2021.

The movie builds off previous Marvel works like “Avengers: Endgame” and the “Loki” show. It follows Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, in the aftermath of the battle with Thanos. After Scott’s daughter, Cassie, makes a Quantum communication device that goes awry, Scott, Hope, Hank, Janet, and Cassie get thrown into the Quantum realm. Throughout the movie, the characters attempt to escape the Quantum realm.

The film delved into Janet Pym’s time in the Quantum realm, discussing her past experiences in the place. Through that, it unveils a villain previously introduced in the Loki show: Kang. Jonathan Mayers did a masterful job of portraying Kang. While you wanted to hate the character, you couldn’t help but wonder if his actions were valid and whether his warnings should have been heeded.

The plot of the film is interesting. It develops Antman’s story in the aftermath of the battle with Thanos. In doing so, the movie sets the stage for a new conflict with Kang. M.O.D.O.K, played by Corey Stoll, helped provide comedic relief, contributing to a juxtaposition between the events taking place and the characters’ disposition. This helped make the movie both engaging and entertaining.

While it is debatable whether or not the movie lives up to the Marvel legacy, it was certainly an enjoyable, action-filled watch.
