Explore downtown —
Take a walk at Lady Bird Lake Boardwalk — with the skyline backdrop and the sun shimmering on the water, it’s the perfect spring activity for a calm afternoon. If feeling hungry, grab dinner from one of the many delicious restaurants downtown like Aba Austin or the Corner Restaurant. Maybe take an afternoon to relax in the Austin Public Library and take some memorable photos at the Butterfly Bridge.
Enjoy a shopping spree —
With spring clothing drops rolling in everywhere, this break could be the perfect time to find new looks for the summer, upcoming banquets, and other events. Barton Creek Square holds an assortment of options including Pacsun, Hollister, Altar’d State, and American Eagle. Looking for an even bigger variety? Try the Galleria or the Domain, and maybe catch a movie at the IPIC Theaters there to conclude a day of shopping.
Make memories at events —
It’s time for Rodeo Austin occurring March 13-28! Come for the rodeo and stay for the fair! Want a little travel but nothing overwhelming? The Houston Rodeo features artists like Lizzo, Forrest Frank, and Megan Moroney. For more music, Zach Bryan will perform at the Alamodome in San Antonio on March 21. Although it may be too late to get tickets, I’m sure someone will have tickets they’re selling.
Embrace artistic classes —
Soap making, a multitude of cooking classes, mosaic classes, or even pottery painting are great options for a calm morning. ClassBento offers easy access to dozens of different opportunities to take alone or with friends and family! My personal favorite is the Pottery Parlor, where one can select pieces and designs, stay as long as they want, and paint to their heart’s extent.
Work heartbeat up —
There’s the obvious options to take a Pilates class, play basketball at the park with friends, or take a nice run. However, there’s also some more entertaining aspects like paddleboarding or kayaking on Lady Bird Lake, playing mini golf at Peter Pan Mini Golf, or swimming at Barton Springs pool. For a real day of “no-exercise fun,” try Activate Games in the Domain to compete for points with and against friends.
Take a break —
Let’s be honest — school’s a lot. Sleep, hang out with friends, read, and take a week off. Maybe catch up on homework and favorite TV shows. I know I’m going to be watching the “Is It Cake? Valentines” this weekend. Let’s all enjoy this week to refresh before finishing off this year!
