Pros and cons of taking senior pictures

Before graduation, seniors have the option to document their senior year by taking senior pictures. Although senior pictures are a popular thing to do, there are pros and cons of getting professional pictures done.

Taking senior pictures, you get to pick a number of unique outfits that express your style and have someone take pictures of you. Sessions for senior pictures are usually two hours long, at the location of your choice and the photographers make sure that you always feel comfortable. Another plus of senior pictures is that you’ll have the photos for the rest of your life and be able to share them with people as you grow up. Senior pictures are something that you’ll have and be able to remember how life was senior year and how you looked and compare and see how things have or have not changed. Another perk is having pictures to be able to send with your invitations to graduation to your relatives and friends. Senior pictures have a lot of positives and there are definitely some incentives to take them.

Although there are a lot of positives in taking senior pictures, the number one con of taking professional pictures is the price. Senior pictures can cost up to $500, which might break the bank and can be a deal breaker for some people. When taking senior pictures there is also a chance that the pictures will not turn out the way you wanted them to. Photographers control the session and may take the session in a direction that you didn’t want, which can lead to bad pictures. Another con can be also the time consumption and the cost of clothes. Many people like to purchase new clothes for their senior session, which can be expensive. Time is also a factor. Picking the right date and sacrificing two to three hours of your time can be a struggle for some people. Senior pictures do have some negatives that can be deal breakers for some people.

Taking senior pictures is an opportunity that can either be beneficial or detrimental depending on the point of view. Although cost, time, and the fear of bad results can cause some people to back out of taking pictures, the outcome can also be a positive. Being able to have someone take pictures of you and being able to have those pictures for a long time and be able to look back at them is rewarding. The experience and results are worth it. Any seniors wanting to take pictures should consider both the pros and cons before taking them.
