Advice to become the ultimate gift giver

The holiday season brings on the inevitable tradition of gift giving. A wonderful way to show someone you care is by taking the time and effort to put together the perfect gift for a loved one. Feeling overwhelmed with a long list of holiday activities is common, so here are a few ideas you can use in order to give/make the perfect gifts this season.

For Mom

Moms will enjoy almost anything that is homemade or expresses love. Something as simple as a picture of the family or a heartfelt card will mean a lot to any momma. Another gift just as well received as something homemade can be the gift of no stress. According to Senior Matt Mastro the gift of a day to the spa is always one of his mom’s favorite things.

“It’s not much of a surprise anymore, but giving my mom a spa day is good for her and for the whole family. Giving my mom the gift of a stress free day is one of the best things I can give to her,” Mastro said.

For Dad

Dad’s are sometimes tricky to shop for, however, it is almost always safe to get him something in one of three main categories: technology, outdoors, and food related items. Senior David Walker used food as the means to get the perfect gift for his dad last year.

“My dad loves this special kind of coffee from Starbucks that is only sold around the holidays. One year I got him a bunch of packs of his favorite coffee so that he could stock up for the rest of the year and he loved it,” said Walker.

For Friends

Since no two people are alike it is very important to remember to make your gift personal to whomever is receiving it. Giving a gift to a friend is easy when keeping in mind what makes that person tick and their own distinctive personality. Senior Caroline Naples kept her friend in mind which allowed her to give a very unique and personal gift.

“One of our long time family friends is now 13 and her and her mom planned a trip to Israel over the summer. I got her a travel journal because she has been looking forward to this trip forever and I knew she would love something that would help her remember her trip,” said Naples.

With advice from fellow students, tackling holiday shopping this season will hopefully be much easier.
