Eid prayers, carnival

Eid al-Fitr is a three day long holiday celebrated by Muslims after Ramadan, to celebrate a successful month of fasting and devotion to God. The most common Eid tradition is morning prayers. This year, several Vandegrift students attended the prayers at Islamic Center of Lake Travis on April 21.

On April 22, all the mosques in Austin jointly hosted the first ever city-wide Eid carnival. Thousands of Muslims attended the day-long carnival at Reunion Ranch and thoroughly enjoyed the food, sports, games and socializing.
