Yearbooks on the way, distribution beginning week of May 8

The 2023 yearbook order deadline is Friday to guarantee a copy of the already award-winning annual. Students, staff, and parents must go to Balfour.com to place an order with a credit card or make arrangements with the student media department to pay by check or cash. The publications department does NOT order extra copies due to the cost being prohibitive. The yearbook is $70 before distribution and will go up to $80 if there are any overruns available for purchase. Overruns are copies the plant sends in case of damage during shipment. These all sold out last year with at least 25+ parents/students wanting a copy and not able to purchase one. Unfortunately, another run of the yearbook printing is not possible, again due to cost constraints. The personalization deadline was in March to have enough time to produce the specialty orders before delivery. Senior ads were due in November to have enough time to produce and proof them before the final book was submitted before Spring Break. With over 200 senior shoutouts sold, the two senior ads managers had their hands full up to the last day. These space purchases largely act as a fundraiser for the yearbook program and offset the price of the book itself. With a full color and 328-page yearbook, the price from the publisher is significantly more than the price charged to students.

Vandegrift has had an exciting last few weeks and many things to celebrate. We are so proud of our soccer teams, robotics team, golf teams, all other spring sports and UIL academic championships. However, our yearbook went to press at the beginning of March before these events happened so that we could get it back and pass it out in May.  Sometimes yearbooks will cover these activities in the beginning of the following year’s book. The yearbook staff chooses what to cover and highlight and strives to be as comprehensive as possible in documenting the year.

Please remember that this yearbook is a student-produced publication with the students doing 95% of the content. There WILL be mistakes, especially given the time constraints.

Distribution will likely start some time during the week of May 8. Students will need to bring an ID to room 1617 to pick up their order before school, during PIT, or after school during the week of distribution. They will not be able to pick up the yearbook during class time. The students can pick up yearbooks for friends if absolutely necessary and may pick up for a sibling. They will have to sign for their pick up.

After May 19, to pick up, the student will need to make an appointment with Ms. Stamp [email protected].
