He toured facilities containing Dell’s technology. The servers- the key to the company. He even got to learn how they work.

During COOL Week, although he didn’t shadow anyone, senior Kunal Gupta toured Dell and its facilities and was told what Dell actually does.

“We got to look at how they build them and implement them,” Gupta said. “We got to see a mobile data center which was a portable building that had a bunch of servers in it.”

Gupta was also shown the experience lounge, which is an area where they had new technology and people were able to play video games on them.

“You got to play a Nintendo Switch on their big screen and they had new, fancy computers to showcase,” Gupta said.

Gupta toured Dell alongside students from other Leander ISD schools and said he enjoyed meeting new people.

“I’ll probably never talk to them again but it’s cool to know these people,” Gupta said. “We may work with them at some point and we go to the same college. At Dell, they told us a lot about connections: how they’re important in order to get jobs.”

During the week, Dell showed the area where software engineers work. Gupta said he would like to work at Dell one day.

“It had a nice office and a very collaborative environment,” Gupta said. “It’s a good thing that I went because I can already make those connections so I know people at Dell and they can vouch for me and they can help me if I ever want to get a job there.”
