The LEEF MUDstacle and Family Fun Run will be held at Vista Ridge High School on Oct. 13. The annual community events first race starts at  8:30 a.m. and will continue in waves throughout the morning. Registration fee costs $25 until Sunday, then $35 until the day of the race.

Leander ISD Educational Excellence Foundation (LEEF) is a non profit organization that provides resources across LISD campuses supporting innovation and integrity through academic excellence. Beyond the community, LEEF additionally provides resources such as teaching grants and professional learning programs for teachers and students in the district.

The organization’s goal is to help children engage in learning and reading at a young age.  Partners of LEEF are able to do this through Foundations for Learning, a program built to help children learn to read by providing them with new and used books through school and community events.

Apart from young children, teachers also receive benefits from LEEF, including teaching grants and scholarships. Enriching Great Learning provides these benefits with the funds of training, innovative programs and tools that improve school classrooms. As LEEF provides teachers all over the district with these tools, the learning environment is constantly being improved for students.

The family fun run and obstacle course will have over 1,800 participants and racers from all 42 campuses present Oct. 13. The event holds three different races (1K, 2.5K, 5K) and obstacle courses that tests people’s team building and strategic skills. The event is open to the community and children of all ages.
