Five of the six robotics teams will be moving onto World’s Competition. After all teams qualified for Regionals in January, making it the first school to achieve that, five out of the seven teams won at Regionals, and will now advance to Super-Regionals, Feb. 26 and 28.
“Getting ready for regionals is just a lot of practice. We have our drive team to get used to using the robot the other teams practicing together,” Robotics Coach Goodreau said.
One robotics team, Slytherin 4545, won the first place Think Award at the Texas FTC Vandegrift Qualifier on Dec. 7. Another team, 6209 Venom, got first place and Captain Finalist Alliance in the qualifying round on Dec. 7 at Vandegrift, and yet another team, Team Quad X 6299 received the Innovate Award was the finalist for the Think Award at the Alamo Regionals Championships two weeks ago. Slytherin 4545 also won the Winning Alliance First Pick in the Lovelace Division on Jan. 25.
The teams also make their own parts for regionals. The team makes their own manipulators to put in the robot, setting it apart from other teams. The team won the invasive award by making the most innovated robot, and placed sixth at the Alamo Region Championship, qualifying for Super-Regionals.
“Team is working even harder now to prepare because they are focused and they want to qualify for the World Championship,” Goodreau said.
