Teacher Spotlight with Mr. Lindsay

    1) Why did you decide to become a teacher?

    3

I decided to become a social studies teacher when I was sitting in Mr. Wurst’s world history class during my sopohmore year of high school. I always loved the way that he would talk about history, and I thought that it would be a good way to spend my life, talking about the world we live in to people that were about to become important players in it. It really seemed like a cool job.

    2) Have you taught anywhere else?

I taught world history, government, & economics at Cedar Park High School for six years. This is my fourth year at Vandegrift.

    3) What is your favorite part about being a teacher?

The summers off… Just kidding. My favorite part of being a teacher is when I learn something new about my subject area from a student. I have an intrinsic love for education, so continuing to gain more knowledge and understanding while WORKING is a great reward.

    4)  When you were in school, what was your favorite subject? Why?

My favorite subject was world history because I liked studying the cyclical nature of humanity. Some people are really bored in a history class, but I always thought is was interesting because the past keeps repeating itself over and over. My teacher, Mr. Wurst, really stressed the value of understanding history so that you can truly understand the present.

    5) What is one fun fact about yourself?

I am the “Cat Man”… I currently have three cats. Once, I was the proud owner of five cats at one time. I was like a walking allergy bomb.

Mr. Lindsay was my economics teacher at CPHS. Not sure if he would remember me but I’d love to reconnect.

He was one of the few teachers that ever made a big impression on my life. Glad to see he’s not staying stagnant and probably found a better avenue for his teaching prowess at Vandegrift.
