Viper Relays Results

The Vandegrift track and field team participated in the annual Viper Relays, held at Vandegrift High School, Feb. 26.

The end results for teams were as follows:

Vandegrift varsity girls come in third behind Westwood and Leander, and Vandegrift JV girls also tied for third with Leander, behind Ellison and Cedar Park.

Varsity boys came in second place behind Ellison, and the JV boys came in third, behind Cedar Park and Ellison.

Notable achievements included sophomore Emi McCollum placing first in the varsity 400 meter dash, with a time of 1:03.97. Emi also came in third place in varsity girls long jump with a leap of 15 feet and one inch.

Freshman Savanna Ullmann and junior Tabitha Joines came in first and second in girls varsity pole jump, with heights of seven feet six inches and seven feet even, respectively.

Senior Nikki Keys took second place in both the mile and the half mile, with times of 5:38.25 and 2:28.03

The Goddard twins, Natalie and Loren, both sophomores, took second and third respectively in the two mile.

Junior Patricia Nintcheu won the girls’ varsity discus by a landslide, with a big throw of 120 feet and two inches.

Senior Jake Nowak took first place in the varsity Boys’ 400 meter dash in 50.79 seconds, just over four seconds ahead of second place. Jake also took first place in varsity high jump and long jump, jumping 5’10” in high jump and 21 feet and 4.5 inches in long jump.

Junior Travis Brannan came right behind Nowak in the long jump, coming in second with a jump of 21 feet and 2.25 inches. Brannan won varsity triple jump, coming in at 43 feet and 6 inches.

Sophomore Ricardo Jowers came in first place in the varsity two mile run, with a time of 10:39.27.

Junior Baker Oliver threw 133 feet and 7 inches to come in first in the varsity discus throw.

Overall, all the scores combined led the Vipers to a third place finish as a team, just behind Cedar Park and Eddison.
