Column: Summer’s Almost Here!

Natalie Weber, Staff Reporter

Well y’all it’s finally here! With this warm weather, school is finally ending and it feels great. I know that everyone (for the most part) is ready for summer to start and to take a much needed break. Looking back, my junior year has been a whirlwind of emotions but overall, it has been a great year. I’ve been able to meet so many new people and have had the time to create stronger bonds with important people in my life already. As some of you may know, I had the opportunity to join the PALS program and was able to have a team lead position in the yearbook. Both of these ventures had a great impact on my life.

With PALS, I was able to see the impact that you have on other people and how much you can affect them. I also learned how necessary it is to have a positive attitude and to show up for others, even when you may not be 100%. With my team lead role on the yearbook staff, I learned about the importance of positive leadership and that you don’t have to be mean to effectively lead others. I also learned how to function in an environment that didn’t always have your best interests in mind. In this role, I was able to create an amazing book along with wonderful staffers and create friendships with some of my very favorite people (I’m looking at ya’ll green team!!) Overall, these experiences have benefitted me in such a positive way and I am so excited to be a part of these organizations again next year.

Academically speaking, this year has been pretty stressful but surprisingly rewarding. Everyone warns you about how difficult junior year is and all of the sleepless nights you’ll spend studying over in depth topics. In reality, junior year wasn’t all that bad. Most of my classes were difficult but not so crazy that I lost my mind over them. Everyone has to go through their junior year at some point but I think going into it with a positive mindset is really important.

This year has been so amazing for me and I hope that others can collect as many positives in their school year as well! I can’t wait for summer to start and to see everyone have a great time relaxing and soaking up the sun!

Love, Natalie <3
