Ways to Avoid the Second Semester Slump

1) Create a schedule. If you feel like you’re still in spring break, setting a schedule will force you to turn off the television and open your books. Also, making a list of all that you have to do can motivate you.

2) Entice yourself with later rewards. Tell yourself, “If I finish my Spanish homework, then I’ll watch and episode of Friends.” Just make sure that episode doesn’t turn into a few hours of TV.

3) Exercise to clear your head. Just taking a quick jog around your neighborhood will help you get some energy to study. Another way to get some energy is to take a nap, but be careful not to sleep to long.

4) Think about why you need to study. It sounds cheesy, but it works. Imagine yourself getting that perfect test score or getting into your dream school and suddenly you’ll a lot more motivation.
