5 pumpkin related things to satisfy your cravings

Madeline Smyser, Staff Reporter

This fall, nothing is more popular than the pumpkin. Some of us, however, have not yet been filled of our pumpkin needs. So, here are five pumpkin things to help get you in the fall mood.

1. Pumpkin carving

Now that Halloween is just around the corner, it’s time to start carving those pumpkins! Make a day out of trips to pumpkin patches and try to find the cream of the crop, or simply stop at the grocery store to pick out the one that’s best for you. Then, design your pumpkin with stencils, cutouts, or just a black marker. Be as creative, funny or as scary as you want! Tip for longer lasting pumpkins: spray it with a Castile-water mixture each night and place it in a plastic bag and then in the fridge.

2. Pumpkin candles

From Yankee Candle to Bath and Body Works, there are pumpkin scented candles everywhere. Pick your favorite and enjoy the scent of fall’s most famous gord wafting through your home.

3. Pumpkin caramel-pecan pie

Pumpkin pie is the classic fall food that everyone looks forward to. Whether you make it yourself or buy it, you can never go wrong. This fall, try a twist on the classic pie with chocolate pumpkin pie or caramel-pecan pumpkin pie.

4. Pumpkin bread

Another pumpkin classic is pumpkin bread. Make them into muffins for a cute and easy to-go snack. Even add chocolate chips, cream filling, or powdered sugar to sweeten the deal.

5. Pumpkin spice latte

Not to be cliche, but the pumpkin spice latte was the first in a long line of pumpkin spice products. Why not try the drink that started it all? Or you can get creative and add one pump of pumpkin spice to a chai tea latte to mix it up a little.
